ABOUT CLP

Central Lutheran Preschool is a bright happy cooperative preschool program located in Yakima. We aim to educate both our students and their families. CLP has two programs for Yakima Valley families. Our Toddler Class for ages 18m-3yrs provides an exciting and active setting for our youngest students to explore with their caregivers. Our preschool program for ages 3 years to 5 years uses play-based learning with a focus on science and process art to provide a well-rounded preschool experience.

WHAT IS A COOPERATIVE PRESCHOOL?

Central Lutheran Preschool (CLP) is a non-profit school organized by parents, teachers and a Program Coordinator. It is run by an Executive Board consisting of parents. In addition to providing a developmentally-appropriate and stimulating environment for children, the program is also intended to support caregivers in their role as parents and teachers of their children. The entire administration and maintenance of the school, including such responsibilities as hiring teachers, making classroom purchases, recruiting new students, paying bills, fundraising, and cleaning and repairing facilities and equipment, are all done by parents and the teachers.

Parent play a large role in the functioning of CLP. 2 or 3 times per month, parents or other caregivers of students work in the preschool classroom as classroom helpers. Parent sign up for  what helper role they would like, (art table, building center, dramatic play) and engage and play with students during their time in the classroom. It is a wonderful way to be involved in your child education.

Benefits a Co-op Preschool Offers Children:

- A wider world to explore and enjoy

- Encourages self-esteem and self-confidence

- Above average adult to child ratio in classroom

- Children play and learn to respect others

- Expressive materials, games and art activities

- Builds a positive attitude towards school

TODDLER CLASS
1 OR 2 DAY ENROLLEMENT

Ages 18 months to 3 years

Teacher Marcie leads a 2-hour class designed especially for the energetic Toddler age. Open play, teacher-assisted crafts, story time, and outside recess are a few of the things your child will explore with their caregiver by their side. Parents and caregivers love to use the time to talk with fellow parents. The toddler class is a great time for young ones to begin socializing with others and learn skills for preschool.

Toddler class will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays.
